With the inexpensive cost of digital point and shoot camera's today nearly everyone has a digital camera. You probably took hundreds of photo's during your last vacation but once you got home what did you do with them? Most of my friends will put them on their computer and let them sit there.

As a professional archiving my images is part of my daily tasks. Since I know how important your family photo's or vacation photo's are I wanted to provide you with a few tips on archiving.

First of all no digital medium is 100% fail proof, if you have all of your photo's archived on your computer only you are running the risk of your computer crashing and deleting all of your precious photos. One suggestion I would have is to always burn your photos to a CD or DVD right after you download them to your computer. It only takes a few minutes and gives you the security of having a copy of your photos.

Also not every CD or DVD are created the same. Some CD's will only last a few years and then can go corrupt.
