For its third birthday, the Dodge Magnum gets a bit of cosmetic surgery, chiefly around the headlights, seeking to correct what Chrysler design chief Trevor Creed described as the Magnum‘s “wide-eyed look.” In addition to scowling new headlights, the ’08 Magnum also gets a new grille and the new interior.

For the most part, the new Touring looks a lot like the new 2011 5 Series sedan, but with a flat, wagon-like roofline grafted on aft of the B-pillars. It’s a predictable look, certainly, but BMW does dress it up with a matte aluminum finish on window trim and roof rails (both gloss and matte black finishes for the latter are optional).

A signature attraction for almost thirty-five years, the thrill ride embodied the Disney experience nearly as much as Mickey Mouse himself. But the theme park isn’t alone in having to safeguard an icon: it’s much the same whenever Jeep changes the Wrangler. (Heck, some of us still haven’t accepted the name Wrangler, given in 1987, because “Jeep” is the quintessential eponym, the word perfectly representing the object.) Nevertheless, change becomes necessary as demand grows for more power and better fuel economy.
